Free Field Trip Program
for Virginia Title I Schools
There is no cost to Virginia school districts, schools, students, teachers or parents.
Visit us inside Historic St. John's Church for a classroom experience each student will remember. Professional actors in 1770s attire portray nine delegates, including prominent Virginians Richard Henry Lee, Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington.
Students will witness the democratic process at work through the animated reenactment of the Second Virginia Convention, which culminates in Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death!” speech.
The program also offers:
An SOL-based orientation by a costumed interpreter
Supplemental educational materials available for download prior to program
Streaming options for your classroom or school

About the Program
Since 2009, St. John's Church Foundation's "Give Me History!" educational program in Richmond, Virginia has served over 47,000 elementary and middle school students and their teachers in Richmond metro area public schools by providing a free educational program at Historic St. John’s Church.
In 2019, St. John’s Church Foundation was honored with an endowment to support this program. Thanks to the Carole M. Weinstein “Give Me History"!” Endowment, we can continue this program for many generations to come.
