Hear Our Story.

Visit St. John's Church, the location of the Second Virginia Convention, and hear the fascinating story of Patrick Henry and his 'Liberty or Death" speech in the heady days on the eve of the American Revolution. About 35 minutes with time for Q&A.

We do tours daily when we are open. Tours may be blocked for school groups or church events. Online tickets reflect current availability.

Go Back In Time.

Attend an historical reenactment of the Second Virginia Convention of March 1775. Professional actors portray nine delegates — including Thomas Jefferson and George Washington — who engage in the debates leading to Patrick Henry’s immortal words "Give me liberty or give me death!"

Reenactments are held every Sunday in the summer at 1:30 PM, as well as on select dates throughout the year.

Graveyard Stories.

As both the first graveyard and the first public cemetery for white citizens of Richmond, this small plot of land is filled with stories of early Richmond and life and death in the early 18th century.

The link to the audio tour will be sent to your email after purchasing. Intended to be used while on site using a smart device, you can also look and listen from the comfort of home.

The Walter W. Craigie Speaker Series brings speakers to St. John’s to discuss a variety of topics related to history.
