Patrick Henry
Bianca Bryan (Patrick Henry) says you may know her voice long before her face—whether she’s saying “Support for VPM…” on 88.9 or shouting “Have Funn, Go Nuts!” as the PA Announcer for the Richmond Flying Squirrels. A full-time audiobook narrator with a national voiceover career, her first love still remains on the stage. Roles include Mrs. Lovett (SWEENEY TODD), Lockstock (URINETOWN), December (AFTER DECEMBER), Emily (WINGS), Petruchio (TAMING OF THE SHREW), Yitzhak (HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH), Sarah Jane Moore (ASSASSINS), and Rose (CAROLINE, OR CHANGE). She is a two-time RTCC Best Actress winner with 10 nominations. MFA Brooklyn College, BM Manhattan School of Music. Love to Chris, Trace & Annella.
Peyton Randolph
Melissa Johnston Price (Peyton Randolph) is the 2014 recipient of the Teresa Pollack Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts and has been in over 100 regional productions in a career spanning 45 years. She was last seen in Richmond Shakespeare’s production of THE FATHER and Virginia Rep’s world premiere of Bo Wilson’s BONNIE AND CLAIRE. She has also been seen in Richmond Shakespeare’s TAMING OF THE SHREW (Baptista), and PRIDE AND PREJUDICE (Mrs. Bennett). Melissa was honored to be among the first actors to perform on the RTP stage as Ruth in FACING EAST. She counts among her favorite roles: Barbara in AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY with Cadence/Virginia Rep (winner: Best Actress Richmond Theatre Critics Circle Award) and Eleanor of Aquitaine in THE LION IN WINTER (nominated: RTCC Best Actress).
Edmund Pendleton
Jacqueline Jones (Edmund Pendleton), an RVA-based actor who graces the airwaves, treads the boards, sparkles on the silver screen, and shimmers on the small, has a passion for the tool of communication live theatre offers. Jackie specializes in solo portrayals like Governor Ann Richards (ANN by Holland Taylor), Golda Meir (GOLDA’S BALCONY), and the Spirit of Madame Blavatskaya (Hotel Greene, RVA). She relishes playing roles that make a difference, including those in pet projects HUGS AND KISSES (helping prevent child sexual abuse), SONGS FROM BEDLAM (giving voice to the mentally ill), and now, REMEMBER THE LADIES (cherishing USA’s 19th Amendment).
Thomas Jefferson
Anne Michelle Forbes (Thomas Jefferson) is delighted to be a part of this first-ever all-woman reenactment in her favorite neighborhood in Richmond! Anne Michelle has been a professional actor in Richmond for 11 years and is a full time wedding planner when she is not on stage. Recent theatrical credits include SANCTUARY CITY (5th Wall Theatre), WATER BY THE SPOONFUL (Firehouse Theatre), POTUS (Virginia Repertory Theatre), THE WINTER WONDERETTES (Swift Creek Mill Theatre; RTCC Award for Best Supporting Actress), THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW (with both Richmond Triangle Players and Yes And! Theatrical Co), and GLORIA (Cadence Theatre Company; RTCC Nominee for Best Supporting Actress). Thank you to Maggie for the opportunity to play!
George Washington
Nicole Morris-Anastasi (George Washington) is honored to portray General George Washington. She was most recently seen as Sam in the world premier of BURIAL TAX at Firehouse Theatre. Past favorite roles include Woman 1 in I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE (Swift Creek Mill Theatre), Phebe in AS YOU LIKE IT (Richmond Shakespeare), and Patsy in SPAMALOT (Dogwood Dell Festival of the Arts). Nicole is also a choreographer, most recently working with Virginia Repertory Theatre on DON’T LET THE PIGEON DRIVE THE BUS. Thanks to Maggie, Dean, this cast of amazing women, and to best husband Phil, forever.
Robert Carter Nicholas
Amy Henderson (Robert Carter Nicholas) is a Richmond-based singer songwriter known for her blend of indie folk rock and soulful harmonica. She has released multiple albums and performs mostly with her roots rock band, Cheap Comfort. Amy has dabbled in theater with Richmond Triangle Players (SORDID LIVES, PULP). As a former history teacher, Amy has a MA in History and is excited to be in a project that fills both her love of history and being on stage. During the day, Amy is a Safety Manager at a local manufacturer and she and her wife are proud parents of two kids (now in college).
Richard Henry Lee
Debbie Phillips (Richard Henry Lee) is passionate about bringing history to life for all ages, and is excited to be a part of this historic program. She has a degree in history and researches, composes, and performs her living history programs, which include Eliza Poe, Abigail Adams, Martha Washington, Patrick Henry's eldest daughter Patsey, and many more fascinating ladies. She can often be found performing for groups all over Richmond, and can be reached through her page “History Lives” on Facebook. A local tour guide and historian with over 15 years’ experience, Debbie has worked for the St. John's Church Foundation and the Edgar Allan Poe Museum in Richmond, Virginia, and currently serves on the board for the Parsons' Cause Foundation. She and her family live in Chesterfield County.
Thomas Nelson, Jr.
Valerie Chinn (Thomas Nelson, Jr.) is an actor, singer, storyteller and cat lover in Richmond, VA. Some roles she has played previously include Pearl in GHOST QUARTET (Firehouse Theatre), Mary Debenham in MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS (Riverside Center), and Polly Perkins in THERE GOES THE BRIDE (Swift Creek Mill). She is a founder of Spooky Hollow Storytellers and a women’s quartet called Mosaic, and is a staff soprano at St Paul’s Episcopal Church. She would like to thank her four cats and her husband for their continued love and support, and the audience, without whom there would be no theatre.
Benjamin Harrison
Tricia Hawn (Benjamin Harrison) is based in Richmond VA. After raising her two children she began dedicating more time to acting both on stage and in front of the camera. In addition to local stages (including Firehouse Theatre, CAT Theatre, and Jazz Actors Theatre with the legendary Ernie McClintock), she can be seen on several featured films/shorts/commercials including Hulu’s award winning limited series “DOPESICK” opposite Michael Keaton. Tricia continues to develop her craft by studying with esteemed acting coaches.
Jan Powell, Director
Jan Powell (director) was the founding Artistic Director of the innovative Tygres Heart
Shakespeare Company at the Center for the Performing Arts in Portland Oregon, then
served as Artistic Director of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival before relocating to
Richmond, Virginia as Producing Artistic Director for Richmond Shakespeare. She is a
past president of the international Shakespeare Theatre Association. Now freelance,
Jan directs plays, operas, original and movement-based theatre locally in Richmond
and in far-flung places in the U.S. and internationally. Jan is the owner of JP Public Speaking & Communication, which provides speechwriting, leadership communication and public speaking coaching both in-person and online. Jan is delighted to be a resident Richmond Shakespeare associate artist and loves working regularly with the company. She’s a proud member of Actors Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild/AFTRA, AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists), and until recently, she was an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Randolph-Macon College.
Dean Knight, Producer
Dean Knight is the Manager of Educational Programs at the St. John's Church Foundation. His museum career includes 12 years as the Supervisor of the White House of the Confederacy and seven years as the Programs Coordinator at the Edgar Allan Poe Museum. As an actor he has been in over 40 mainstage productions throughout Central Virginia, including his RTCC Best Leading Actor winning role as Dr. Ever Montgomery in DANCING LESSONS at Virginia Repertory Theatre's Hanover Tavern. A couple favorite roles are Clarence in RICHARD III and Trigorin in THE SEAGULL, both with the Henley Street Theatre Company. He plays Benjamin Harrison, Thomas Nelson, Robert Carter Nicholas, and, most often, Richard Henry Lee, in the long-running Liberty or Death reenactment at St. John's.
