Priests

The Rev. Laura Inscoe
The Rev. Laura Inscoe is a graduate of Union Theological Seminary & Presbyterian School of Christian Education and participated in Virginia Theological Seminary's Anglican Studies program. Laura had a career in corporate law prior to ordination. She took her undergraduate degree in English from the University of Virginia and she earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law. Her husband, Ray, is a Presbyterian minister.

Rev. Dr. Sandra M. Levy Our Priest Associate
The Rev. Dr. Sandra M. Levy
was ordained to the priesthood in l995. Her Ph.D. is in Clinical Psychology, and before entering Virginia Theological Seminary, she held the position of Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Medicine and Associate Director of the Pittsburgh Cancer Institute at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Levy is a widely published author, and her most recent work, Faith and Imagination, has recently been published by Eerdmans (Grand Rapids).





The Vestry
Nine Vestry members serve three-year rotating terms, with four new members elected annually by the congregation at the annual meeting. Vestry members join the Rector in planning and overseeing the affairs of the Church; the Rector and the Vestry exercise control over the investments and expenditures of St. John's Church.

The Patrick Henry Committee
The Patrick Henry Committee is a committee of the vestry that focuses on the historical interpretation and preservation of St. John's Church, a National Historic Landmark, for the education of present and future generations. St. John's Church was the site of Patrick Henry's famous “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech during the Second Virginia Convention in March 1775. This committee conducts educational programs that welcome visitors and students to this historic site. Staff

Our Parish Administrator

Patty Duffy
joins the staff of St. John's Episcopal Church after a 16 year teaching career. She has a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia and a B.S. in English Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. A lifelong Episcopalian, she is an active member of St. James's Episcopal Church, where she sings in the Parish Choir and is a student in The University of the South's Education for Ministry program






Bob Copeland Our Organist/Choirmaster

Bob Copeland
is a Richmond native who has been with St. John's since 1983 when he came to restore the Adam Stein organ. He received his B.Mus. in Church Music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J.








Reverend Alan MeadOur Christian Education Director

The Rev. Claire N. George joined the staff of St. John's as the Director of Christian Education in September, 2007, when she was working towards her Master of Divinity degree at Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education. She became an ordained minister shortly after graduation.







Harry is the new Parish Greeter and Best Friend of St. John's Church. He is an 8 year old beagle who enjoys sniffing for rabbits, long walks, and treats. His greatest passion in life is small children. Happily, Harry is not a face licker, although he does tend to snore a lot.
